ACFW Conference Prayer: For the Carol Award Finalists

Psalm 31:14-15a–But as for me, I trust in You, O Lord, I say, You are my God. My times are in Your hand.

Father,

The finalists in the Carol Awards have taken Your words and wrapped them around the stories You have placed in their hearts. They’ve done their best and now they wait. In this waiting time, give them the strength to repeat the words of David in Psalm 31:

But as for me, I trust in You, O Lord, I say, You are my God. My times are in Your hand.

I pray beyond the waiting, too. I ask that the finalists look to each other not as competition, but as co-authors for Your Kingdom. Give them hearts to rejoice or weep together as we all learn to trust the story You are writing in our lives.

In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen!

  1. To compete with Christian bretheren
is, as we all know, a sin,
so may God forgive my candour when
I say I want to win.
    It’s not that they’re opponents,
    fellow writers for the prize,
but I fear that my thoughts go hence:
“I will cut ’em down to size.”
I will do it very nicely,
with my gifts of grace and skill,
    but they’ll lose decisively
to my talent and my will.
I will therefore give my all
    in a faith-filled cage-fight brawl.
